Choosing a garden centre
Buying flowers and plants from a nearby supermarket might be awfully handy, but do you know where they actually come from?
Choose a nearby garden centre or florist: the young plants will have grown at the same latitude and in the climate as your home, so they will suffer less of a shock when transplanting them.
Pay attention to the way a plant holds itself
It’s normal to be attracted by a flower’s colour, scent and beauty. But you also need to look beyond aesthetics and asses a plant’s posture, opting for those that look stronger, more compact and balanced. The leaves should be turgid and bright green.
