You don’t need to have a garden to be surrounded by plants and flowers. You just need a small place outside to enjoy colors and scents of nature.
Decorate a flowered balcony it’s easy. If I was able to do it, especially since I just approached the green world for the first time in my life, you surely can do it too. What’s important is to follow a schedule and some few and simple rules.
Study your balcony
Based on dimension and shape, try to imagine how to occupy space, where to put the vases and how.
For example, since I don’t have a huge space, I started by choosing the pots. I imagined how to place them and then I chose which plants to buy, based on the chosen dimensions. A useful advice for our “small space condition” is to exploit the height, rather than the width.
Choose planters, small greenhouses, shelves, hanging vases or equipped walls, if you are good at bricolage. Another solution is to use a lot of planters along the railing.
For those who, like me, find themselves struggling for the first time with the decoration of their balcony, I suggest to avoid to fill the space with vases, plants and flower. It’s better to start this adventure with criterion, choosing the right compromise between vases, wall units and vase holders.
Be sure to take a lot of care of your greenery!
